Inspiration-
My lovely friend, Sharon of Mana Moon Studios, sent me a little parcel of Vintaj components as a gift. Living in the UK I hadn’t come across Vintaj before, but Sharon encouraged me to create something with all the beautiful beads and wire and chain. It didn’t take me long to come up with this necklace as my inspiration simply lay within the beads themselves. They remind me so much of fairies and forests and my love of fairy tales!! I wanted to make something that was very feminine, with a light delicate feel, reminiscent of fairies and forest glades.

Description –
Using 20 gauge gunmetal wire I shaped a tear drop and wrapped it with 26 gauge gunmetal wire. I also made a couple of swirls with 20 gauge wire in order to attach the drop to the chain. I spiced up the chain a bit with another wire wrapped drop and a lovely filigree cone end cap and a peridot glass bead. From the main drop I hung varying lengths of chain and added a filigree bead wrap, and two peridot glass beads with ornamental bead caps. To finish I used a sweet little round teensie dragonfly charm and some seed beads.

Materials –
Vintaj beads – filigree cone end cap, filigree bead wrap, ornamental bead caps, teensie dragonfly charm, peridot faceted glass beads, seed beads.

Tools –
Side cutters, chain nosed pliers, ring nosed pliers and various files.

Techniques –
Wire wrapping

Bio –
I draw my inspiration from all I see and hear around me, hues, moods, changing seasons, music and fairy tales. I adore natural products and this is reflected in my jewellery. Gems, handcrafted lampwork beads, sterling silver, gold filled wire, pearls and of course Vintaj brass are my favourite materials to work with. I live in Kent, southern England with my husband, three boys and black Labrador!
