| This piece was created as a sample for our Altered Journal Necklace Workshop at Bead&Button 2011. I layered pieces to create a miniature journal starting with a metal reliefed Flourish Ribbon Slide on the back. Then I cut down a 3x3 Altered Blank Canvas using metal cutting shears to create my own custom Altered Blank. I filed the edges to make sure they were smooth, textured the piece with a texture hammer and imprinted "Be Calm & Carry On & Bead The Night Away."
The next layer is the Victoriana Ribbon Slide with the Marcasite Butterfly Decorivet attached to the front wrapping the prongs of the decorivet to ribbon slide. Again the metal reliefing block brought out the detail in these arte metal pieces.
The recycled sari silk fibers add the pop of color. |
