Dragonfly Pool Design Challenge Winner & Editor’s Pick!

Congratulations to Carol Nugent and her “Creek Walking” necklace. She is the winner of our Dragonfly Pool Design Challenge. Here is what she had to say about her piece:

I was a tomboy growing up and especially loved summer. There was a creek in the neighborhood, and one of my favorite activities was to go “creek walking.” It was fun; all I had to do was take off my shoes and jump in. These adventures always resulted in me bringing home a “pet”…fish, frogs, and, yes, dragonflies. The dragonflies would sun themselves on water lilies and their iridescence radiated! This memory was the inspiration for my design. I wrapped the dragonfly around the green and pink unakite stone, which resembles the water lilies, and I carried the theme throughout using Vintaj natural brass findings and chain.

Our Editor’s Pick for this month is Marina Lombardi and her “Dancing on the Lily Pads” necklace. Here is Marina’s inspiration:

In this necklace I have created a focal point in the Art Nouveau style, framing a pond of polymer clay with hammered gilded wire; it is embellished with mcrobeads, moonstones and metallic pigments. The beads chosen for setting – aquamarine, fluorite, crystals, seed beads-recollect forms and colors of the pond.
