What ignited your passion for beads?
I have been using beads most of my life, as a child it was to do with embroidery and textile decoration. After a car accident where my shoulder was impacted I gave up my specialty perennial business and recuperated for a couple of years. During that time I attended an Embellishments show in Portland, Or. and fell in love with beading! I had never seen so many happy people in one spot. I was particularly taken by the lamp-worked beads made by hand. So, I went home and found a teacher and took lamp-working classes.
The business grew out of my need for supplies for my finished work, so in 2006 Bellomodo.com went live on the internet, becoming a learning experience of a digital kind for me. I am still working full time at the business, and less than I want at lamp-working but my plan is to return to it and continue on my path! I am so lucky to have found staff members that share in my goal to offer the highest quality materials to fellow artists. We do our best to offer lead and nickel free products that are made in the USA, so Vintaj Natural Brass is a favorite of ours.
Below Pam shared with us her own interpretation of Asian Lantern, the bead was made by Terri Caspary-Schmidt!

For me, the theme Asian Lantern brings about a memory of a movie, Raise the Red lantern. The movie had a distintive color theme, and that is predominate to me. Unfortunately its not Asian Maple, maybe a bit easier, but the lantern will have to do!
