Winner & Editor’s Pick of the Twinkling Lights Design Challenge!

Congratulations to Dionne Simone of My Smitten Boutique, our blog readers chose her “Jack’s 1st Christmas” necklace as their favorite in our Twinkling Lights Design Challenge! Here is Dionne’s inspiration:

Shiny packages, twinkling lights & abundant snow glitter covering the earth, are some magical things that as adults we sometimes forget to notice. I wanted to portray Christmas magic, as seen through innocent eyes. (Glitter snow suspended in resin and Swarovski light “strings” give this piece tons of sparkle) Jack Skellington’s 1st visit to Christmas Town in A Nightmare Before Christmas.

Dionne’s necklace will be entered in our End Of The Year Design Challenge starting next Monday, December 17!

Now for our Editor’s Pick for this challenge…

“ELVEN PARTY” Necklace by Marina Lombardi of Vintage Made For You

“The inspiration for this necklace comes from the reading of the novel “The Hobbit” by JRR Tolkien: I imagined a party of elves in the woods, and although there is no specific symbolism in each element, I thought the color green not only to evoke the woods, but because it is said that elves love above all the emeralds; the moonstone in the center of the necklace, surrounded by a wreath of moss in polymer clay, is inspired by the precious “Arkenstone” that the Hobbit Bilbo found in the treasure of the dwarves. Swarovski green opaque and transparent crystals hanging from Vintaj filigree complete the assembly.”

We hope you all enjoyed the challenges of 2012 as much as we did. Make sure to vote next week for your favorite winning design of the year! Also check out our updated Themes for 2013 page to get started on your next winning design!
