In place of patina’d charms, pendants & filigree, try adding some color to chain. It’s a fun technique that makes your designs pop. In Rose’s “Sweet Lovin” necklace she incorporated sections of patina’d Arte Metal chain, framing textured & letter stamped blanks…

1. Lay chain flat onto a
Non-Stick Craft Sheet.
Use a flat tip paint brush
to dab patina onto chain
links.Roll to coat back side.
2. Use pliers or a metal awl
to slide chain to a clean
surface of the craft sheet.
Allow to dry for a couple of
minutes or use a Heat It
Craft Tool to speed up the
drying time.
3. Rinse brush in water
and dry with a paper towel.
Clean up excess patina
with paper towel.
4. Use a Craft Scrapper
or old credit card to
remove dried patina from
craft sheet.
* Distress the edges of patina’d chain with a Metal Reliefing Block.

Can I use this on leather, or will it crack off? If not what type of paint should I be using? Thanks nancy
I added color to the decorivets inspired by the Pantone Spring colors and your metal patinas! I made a whole flock of earrings featured on Earrings Everyday and I am giving away a pair. Come on over and check it out! http://earrings-everyday.blogspot.com/2013/01/sweet-serendipity.html
