I think it would be great to showcase riveting in your next creative session.

Riveting is fun! I agree!
I am looking forward to learning some filigree wrapping techniques straight from the Jess herself!
I also think it is cool to see what sort of resins you can use with the pieces…I am working on one right now with my little dapped and stamped and inked Vintaj blank!
Enjoy the day!

This creative session, we’ll also be working with “Liquid Fusion” as a resin/type base. It’s sold as a clear urethane glue, but I had to try it as a resin… and it worked!! … and so beautifully. I’ve poured (right out of the bottle… no mixing!) about 30 pieces so far and I still have 1/2 a bottle left. It’s non-toxic, self leveling, non-foaming, 100% waterproof, fast drying (about 4-5 hours for handling, but 24 hours to ensure setting) and doesn’t have an odor. I LOVE THIS STUFF!! I picked it up at Hobby Lobby. I think it was in the oil painting section?? I’m going back for more. Have fun!

Oh how I long for a Hobby Lobby after hearing about it from Jess and Trish and Rose….I will seek that stuff out! Sounds like fun..
Enjoy the day! Erin

Guess what? The liquid fusion is actually at Michaels, not Hobby Lobby… oops! One more note about liquid fusion; it will stick to other pieces poured with liquid fusion, so keep them separate. I would only suggest using this as a resin for finished pieces that will not come in contact with other surfaces, such as wall art, boxes, etc. Oh and it is also an awesome glue. Imagine that.

I love being able to learn from other artists experimentation. Thanks so much for the Liquid Fusion idea. I’m not crazy about mixing resin…

I have a wonderfully embossed Tim Holtz binder, a pretty dark brown, that I would like to ink. Is there a technique to do this? Put down a coat of something or other than will stick to the fake leather, and accept the inks. Any ideas and final products would be great! I’m relatively new to the mixed=media altered area. Thanks!

Barbara-
The best advice on how to use Tim’s inks can be found on his site. He has a wide range of online video demos. I think the one you might be interested in is HERE.
Hope this helps!

I am interested in using true old vintage pieces mixed with new Vintaj pieces. I have made several mixed pieces, however, I would like to create more jewelry mixing old with new. I would like to solder vs. using glue. I need to learn more about soldering and wonder if Vintaj pieces ok to solder on? Would you showcase soldering techniques. I also agree with Alice as I would like to see riveting showcased as well. I love your line of products. It’s about time someone came up with such wonderful elements to work with.
