Q+A: What is “Vintaj Natural Brass”?

What is “Vintaj Natural Brass”?
Q: Why do you refer to your products as “natural brass”?

A: When we describe our products as “natural brass,” that means that we have aged them naturally without the use of any chemicals (aging products). We also do not plate them in any way, leaving them in their natural state. Our process is “green” environmentally friendly. We hand embellish our products by using a 7 stage process, which includes our aging process and hand rubbing with natural oils to achieve its unique color and luster.

Q: Does your product contain nickel or lead?
A: Our brass is 100% naturally nickel and lead free. It is comprised solely of copper and zinc. We use a jeweler’s brass that is an 85% copper and 15% zinc content.

Q: Are your findings plated?
A: Our metal is not plated or treated with chemicals in any way. Therefore, it does not contain nickel, lead or other metals that are foreign to its natural make-up of copper and zinc.

Q: Will your brass tarnish?
A: Our metal is in a natural, breathable state, so it will lighten and darken with wear and age. Most of our customers choose to keep our metal in its natural ever-changing state and actually prefer the darkening and lightening stages. However, there are a few that wish to keep the metals consistent. If you wish to preserve the same color as the findings arrive to you in, you may wish to use Renaissance Wax or recommend it to your customers. If you wish to polish our metals to a high luster, we recommend MAAS polish.

    Tarnish?
Do I have to Wax every item that I purchase? Will the brass chain turn the customers neck green?
I love it’s natural state- will it rust if I don’t Ren Wax it?
    Many Thanks

    Beth,

Great questions. Although we recommend REN WAX to add a lustrous protective coating it is not necessary to use it every time. The natural state is purely beautiful, and the natural aging process does not include rusting- Nor does our brass turn your skin green!

    :)
