DIY Basics ~ Rubber Stamping: Patina & Sealing

This technique was perfect to incorporate into some of our “Field Journal” inspired designs. It not only adds color, but also a beautiful graphic image or decorative text which can look handwritten like field notes. Betsy & I stamped with Ranger’s Jet Black Archival Ink over a blend of marine & jade patina, using different shaped altered blanks but similar stamps, the results each reflect a unique feel…

This Vintaj DIY Basic features this technique to create more of a distressed effect with metallic patina over Arte Metal blanks…

With our large variety of altered blanks, all the different patina color combinations you can create, and with the never ending collection of rubber stamps on the market, your design possibilities are truly endless! What would you create?

Enter to win our Field Journal Giveaway with Vintaj & Humblebeads!

Walking along a wooded trail, something catches your eye. It inspires a quick sketch and a note to remind you where you were & when. Anyone who makes jewelry has a collection of beads, embellishments and findings that remind them of a time & place. A handmade art bead from a trip to Colorado, a piece of filigree from a visit to Galena…a little rabbit charm that reminds you of your childhood trips to Grandma’s. Somehow these pieces never make it into your jewelry designs!

To enter our Field Journal giveaway, inspired by the lovely handcrafted Polymer Clay nature pendants, charms & beads by our friend and Art Bead Partner Heather Powers of Humblebeads… tell us your story of a special collection you’ve started or a memorable trip where you collected special treasures. Write your story in the comments of this post and please keep them under 125 words.

Example:

My family was vacationing in South Haven, MI a couple of years ago. We set aside a day where we strolled along the quaint Main St. lined with shops. I spotted a bead shop down a little walkway and told my family to walk ahead. While inside I spotted some beautiful pendants in gorgeous colors with images of birds, nests & flowers. I picked up a bead in the shape of a house with tiny yellow flowers that reminded me of the little cottage we rented. I will always remember that special time with my family in our quiet little cottage near the lake…every time I see that bead.:)

*If you are new to our blog, we may have to moderate your comment. Don’t worry, it may not show up right away, we’ll make sure comments that fit the contest rules are accepted!
The deadline is Friday, April 4, 2014 at midnight CT. The winner will be announced on Monday, April 7, 2014.

Vintaj Embossed Tin Tile Frame

Today I have another home decor frame project from CHA to share with you.  I created this frame using Vintaj Sizzix products and it was displayed in the Sizzix booth in the Vintaj display.  It sure was great to have a picture of Jack at the show on display so that when I missed my pup a little I could take a quick peek at him!

This frame looks like it is involved but really, it was a very quick project.  I love that for just a little bit of time I was able to create something so unique and give new life to a clearance aisle photo frame!

View Tammy’s full blog post with all of the details & materials used to make this adorable frame HERE!

Vintaj products include:
Vintaj Iron Scrollwork 6×6 Texture Impression die (Sizzix)
Vintaj Thinlets: Asian Dragonfly & Dancing Leaves (Sizzix)
Vintaj Arte Foil – Silver (Ranger)
Vintaj Patina(Ranger) – Cobalt, Moss & Jade
